DStv Mobile is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others that face unfavourable circumstances and challenges.

A difference has been made to the children of Othandweni home, a children’s home South of Johannesburg.

Othandweni Home is situated in Mofolo South, Soweto and offers residential care for children of all ages who have been abused, abandoned or neglected.

The Centre was established in 1984 and caters for 90 children from the ages of birth to 18 years.

The Centre also has limited place available for destitute mothers or pregnant women who are contemplating the futures of their unborn children.

Othandweni acts as a place of safety where children are placed until suitable families have been found, either by our Adoptions or Foster Care Departments. Those children who cannot be immediately placed stay at Othandweni for as long as is necessary.

Othandweni Home was identified by DStv Mobile as an organisation that is compatible with the corporate philosophy and stakeholder directives and therefore fitting to receive assistance with day to day consumables and the upkeep of the home.

DStv Mobile has a sustainable relationship with Othandweni and regularly visits the home. Assistance is provided in the form of toys food and clothing donations. Various parts of the home have also renovated, including offices, the library, the kitchen and play areas.
