How will DStv Mobile know if I am a Premium subscriber and qualify for subscription at no extra cost?
You will need to contact the MultiChoice call centre, visit the closest MultiChoice branch in your area. When we activate your device, we will validate your DStv subscription as a Premium subscription and link it with your DStv Mobile subscription so that you do not have to pay for your DStv Mobile subscription. Please note that a Premium subscriber is only entitled to one subscription at no extra cost via the Drifta; any additional subscriptions to the DStv Mobile option will be billed the applicable subscription cost. If you subscribed to DStv Mobile through your DStv Premium subscription you will get the extra channel M-Net Mobile on your DStv Mobile device.
- Ensure that you activate your iDrifta through Online Activations on the DStv Mobile Website or through MultiChoice customer care
- Ensure that your device is fully charged
- Ensure that your device is powered ON
- Subscribe to one of the available bouquets and view
Please check that the device is fully charged. The iDrifta must have some battery life to allow it to be detected by an iOS device; if the battery is completely flat; the iDrifta will not detected by the iOS device.
The iDrifta cannot charge your iOS device.
Your iOS device cannot charge your iDrifta; however once the iDrifta has run out of power; it will use the iOS device power to continue to play the TV.
Yes it does, however to use the iDrifta with an iPhone 5 you will need a 30 pin to Lightning adaptor.
The battery life of the iDrifta is 3 hours.
The charge time for the iDrifta varies; approximately 1hour 30 minutes when charged using a wall charger (direct electricity) and approximately 4 hours when charged using a computer USB port.
Due to content rights, Airplay is not allowed when using the iDrifta.
If a user selects the Airplay icon and then an Airplay device (Apple TV), while the mobile TV app is playing, the message below will be displayed and the app will automatically close.
You must then restart the application. If you STILL see the same error upon restart, then you must manually deselect the Airplay device from the MAIN iOS device player controls.
To do this; you must do the following:
Double click the home button on the iOS device, scroll left twice to display the Apple TV icon (screenshot 1)
Then select the iOS device, in this case iPhone.
Restart the Decoder app, and the channel will begin playing.
When I use my iPhone/iPad/iPod, I get an error that says “This version of the application is no longer supported. The latest version is available for download from the App Store.”
You will need to upgrade your version of iOS to the latest version from the App Store.
Yes, no existing MultiChoice account is required to purchase the iDrifta.
This is a monthly subscription service that runs from the date that you pay and activate the account and therefore expires when a month from the date of activation is over. There is no grace period for the DStv Mobile service if the account has not been paid, therefore the service will be disconnected immediately.
What about when I want to reactivate after making a late payment, will I be charged a reconnection fee?
No; this is a monthly subscription service and therefore expires once the period is over; there are no fees for reactivation of subscriptions.
If you cancel/do not pay for your DStv Mobile service and want to resubscribe at a later stage, you will not be charged any reconnection fees.
